Devlog 2


Successes: We were able to implement a core foundation for our game, everything with the Xcom like elements work. The grid system, AI, shooting, action points, turn system, etc function as intended. In addition, we were able to accomplish a-lot with the time given and this was a very valuable learning experience on how big project games are made. It was definitely a challenging experience from start to finish but we definitely gained so much from the process.

Challenges: Github remains a big issue, lots of time and data was lost during the process of the creation of this game because of merge conflicts or accidental pushes. In addition, art assets and story was definitely a huge issue. We were not able to create many assets as we lacked the skills and team to pull it off. Another issue with the art was due to the fact that it was a 3D game and not 2D, it would have been more manageable, however because of the scope of the technical things needed to be added to make this type of game work, art definitely stands out as one of the major downsides of our game. 

Future Revisions: Definitely making the game look better as well as having a story. We had to cut it out because of the time and skill constraints. In addition, focusing the game in a specific direction meaning having an environment, gameplay elements, and characters a specific them. Right now it just looks like we have soldiers in a somewhat futuristic looking setting. However, it's definitely not perfect. 

Currently The windows build of the game runs with no issues or errors, however the mac build remains unstable. If you want a complete experience of the game with no issues we highly recommend playing that version.
